31 March 2009: Fool

Rumour is that Saints might begin the process-that-may-or-may-not-involve-administration-or-worse as soon as 7am tomorrow morning, which is 2am over here.

So, as I'm not going to be awake for that, I'm pre-empting it here and if it turns out to be yet another pointless Friday rumour I'll just add a big 'APRIL FOOL' to the bottom of this entry.

If it turns out to be true, it's up to you to judge who the Fools really are.

Update 8.05pm Indiana time: The Times is reporting shares are to be suspended immediately, pending administration as soon as they can get organised enough to make it happen. This line is perhaps the most worrying:

It is understood that then the heavily indebted club will have until the end of the summer to find a buyer or face bankruptcy itself.

So, crunch time for Saints. Their only hope of survival in the Championship is that the Football League somehow take the view that since it's the parent PLC rather than the actual footbal club going into administration, they might not deduct 10 points. But don't hold your breath on that one.
